Story Juma's mother died of cholera in 2010. He and his brother were left under the care of their very old father who was depending on donations for food. The two children could not attend school because they had to care for the livestock . If KR had not intervened, these children would have never gotten an education and possibly died of malnutrition. Sep 2021- During the time out of school, Juma ended up running with an unfortunate crowd and became less focused on his studies. At the beginning of the school semester, KR was called routinely for poor performance, poor hygiene, and severe lack of discipline. Through counseling and guidance, Juma has turned things around and begun to make steady improvements in school. His teachers have applauded his efforts and his guardians are grateful for the changes he has made. Juma is most passionate about football, but is learning how to balance football and his studies, such that he is able to be successful in both. We are very proud of the progress he has made.
